These physical properties, plus its wide compatibility, make it useful in a variety of applications, including lacquers, inks, paper coatings, varnishes, adhesives, sealing compounds, plastics and wood preservatives. To assure minimum odor of products in which it is used, it is given a special steam sparging treatment.

Abitol™ E Hydroabietyl Alcohol | Rosin Resin | Abitol™ E resin hydroabietyl alcohol is a colorless, tacky, balsamic resin. Its tackiness and extremely pale color, combined with its solubility in common organic solvents and compatibility with resins, film-formers, and oils, have led to its use as a resinous plasticizer and/or tackifier in plastics, lacquers, inks and adhesives. Chemically, Abitol E resin is a high molecular weight, primary, monohydric alcohol derived from rosin acids that have been hydrogenated to reduce unsaturation. Abitol E resin undergoes the general types of chemical reaction common to most primary alcohols.

Dymerex™ Polymerized Rosin | Rosin Resin | Dymerex™ modified gum rosin is a pale, acidic, thermoplastic, high softening point resin. It is composed predominately of dimeric acids derived from rosin with lesser amounts of monomeric resin acids and neutral materials of rosin origin. Dymerex™ modified resin has high resistance to oxidation and does not crystallize from solutions or from solid compositions. It is compatible with many natural and synthetic film formers and rubbers. Being an acidic resin, it reacts readily with polyalcohols or hydrated lime to yield high melting derivatives.

Foral™ 105-E Ester of Hydrogenated Rosin | Rosin Resin | Foral™ 105-E ester of hydrogenated rosin is a pale, thermoplastic ester resin derived from pentaerythritol and a highly stabilized rosin. Like Foral 85-E ester of hydrogenated rosin, which is produced from the same unique oxidation-resistant rosin, Foral 105-E offers advantages as the tackifier or modifier resin in various adhesives and coating compositions. In these applications, both resins exhibit resistance to oxidation and to discoloration caused by heat and aging. Foral 105-E has a substantially higher softening point and is therefore indicated where a harder resin is desired. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates when high tack is not needed.

Foral™ AX-E Fully Hydrogenated Rosin | Rosin Resin | Foral™ AX-E fully hydrogenated gum rosin is a thermoplastic, acidic resin produced by hydrogenating rosin to an exceptionally high degree. It is the palest, most highly stabilized rosin commercially available from Synthomer. Compared with Staybelite™ resin-E partially hydrogenated rosin, a hydrogenated rosin long established and widely used for its pale color and high oxidation resistance, Foral AX-E has better initial color and color retention, and even greater resistance to oxidation. It is especially indicated as the tackifier and resin modifier in solvent adhesives and hot-melt applied coatings and adhesives that must excel in these properties. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates.

Foralyn™ 5020-F Ester of Hydrogenated Rosin | Rosin Resin | Foralyn™ 5020-F Ester of Hydrogenated Gum Rosin, the methyl ester of hydrogenated rosin, is a light amber liquid resin. Being hydrogenated, it has marked resistance to aging. To assure minimum odor of products in which it is used, it is given a special steam-sparging treatment. Foralyn™ E Partially Hydrogenated Rosin | Rosin Resin | Foralyn™ E Partially Hydrogenated Gum Rosin is a light colored, thermoplastic, acidic resin made by partially hydrogenating rosin. Because of this treatment, Foralyn E is highly resistant to oxidation and discolouration, and to changes in solubility characteristics when it is exposed to air and sunlight. Thermoplastic properties of Foralyn™ E make it particularly valuable as a plasticizer, tackifier or processing aid for reclaimed, natural, and synthetic rubbers. Foralyn E is also suggested for the preparation of synthetic resins, pigment coatings, soldering fluxes and caulking compounds.

Pentalyn™ H-E Ester of Hydrogenated Rosin | Rosin Resin | Pentalyn™ H-E ester of hydrogenated gum rosin is a medium hard, pale, thermoplastic resin designed primarily as a tackifying resin for various types of polymer and elastomer-based adhesives. It is a pentaerythritol ester of a rosin that has been stabilized by hydrogenation. Piccotac™ 8595 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aliphatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Piccotac™ 8595 hydrocarbon resin is an aromatic-modified, aliphatic hydrocarbon resin developed for the adhesives industry. Its specific degree of modification and low molecular weight provides Piccotac™ 8595 with excellent compatibility in styrene block copolymers, amorphous polyolefins (APO), metallocene-polyolefins (mPE, mPP), EVA, and many polar elastomers. It is widely used to compatibilize different elastomers into a formulation to improve performance. It is primarily used in hot melt adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives. Piccotac™ 9095 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aliphatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Piccotac™ 9095 hydrocarbon resin is a low molecular weight, slightly aromatic-modified aliphatic C5 tackifier designed for the adhesives industry. This light colored resin is compatible with styrenic block copolymers, EVA, and many polar elastomers. It is widely used with other tackifier resins, such as rosin esters and C9 hydrocarbon tackifiers to improve performance. It is primarily used in hot melt adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives. Picco™ A-10 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aromatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Picco™ A-10 hydrocarbon resin is a low molecular weight, resinous plasticizer derived largely from aromatic petroleum feedstock. It is characterized by its chemical inertness, excellent resistance to salts, acids, alkalis, water and brines, and its solubility in a wide variety of hydrocarbon solvents. Picco A-10 is indicated for use as a binder in lithographic (cold set) inks and as plasticizer, softener and tackifier for other resins and elastomers used in rubber compounding and various adhesive systems.

Picco™ A-100 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aromatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Picco™ A-100 hydrocarbon resin, with its low softening point and molecular weight has a high level of compatibility in various polymers. It has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and moisture, good resistance to oxygen, and is extremely water repellent. In addition, it provides excellent solvent release, tack and tack retention, excellent pigment wetting, and can be used with both reinforcing and non-reinforcing fillers. Picco A-100 is a viscous fluid at rubber-milling temperatures, and aids compounding by reducing viscosity and by adding tack while on the rolls. These advantages, combined with improvement in mold flow during cure, are obtained without lowering the cured hardness of the finished product. In styrenic block copolymer-based adhesives Picco A-100 preferentially associates with the styrenic end blocks, producing higher room-temperature cohesion without affecting tack and adhesion properties. Picco A-100 is also utilized frequently in EVA-based woodworking adhesives.

Picco™ A-120 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aromatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Picco™ A-120 hydrocarbon resin is a low molecular weight, amber colored thermoplastic resin produced from petroleum-derived monomers that is polymerized under conditions that control its softening point within a narrow range. Being non-polar, it is characterized by its excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and moisture and is extremely water repellent. It shows good color stability and, when formulated with elastomers, a good balance of flex, tear, tack and adhesion properties. In addition, Picco A-120 has excellent solvent release, tack and tack retention, wide solubility and compatibility, good resistance to oxygen and UV light, provides excellent pigment wetting and can be used with both reinforcing and non-reinforcing fillers. Picco A-120 is a viscous fluid at rubber-milling temperatures, and aids compounding by reducing viscosity and by adding tack while on the rolls. This resin has good solubility in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and is compatible with a wide variety of thermoplastic and elastomeric polymers. It is utilized frequently in EVA-based woodworking adhesives and finds widespread use in pressure sensitive adhesives, particularly in systems containing natural rubber or styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). It offers an excellent balance of tack, adhesion and cohesive properties to pressure sensitive systems. In styrenic block copolymer-based adhesives Picco AR-100 preferentially associates with the styrenic end blocks, producing higher room-temperature cohesion without affecting tack and adhesion properties.

Picco™ AR-85 Hydrocarbon Resin | Aromatic Hydrocarbon Resin | Picco™ AR-85 hydrocarbon resin is a low molecular weight, modified aromatic hydrocarbon resin. This resin has good solubility in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and is compatible with a wide variety of thermoplastic and elastomeric polymers. Picco AR-85 is utilized in EVA-based woodworking adhesives. In addition, it is widely used in pressure sensitive adhesives, particularly in systems containing natural rubber or SBR. It offers an excellent balance of tack, adhesion and cohesive properties. In styrenic block copolymer-based adhesives Picco AR-85 preferentially associates the styrenic end blocks, producing lower melt viscosity while maintaining room-temperature cohesion without affecting tack and adhesion properties.

Poly-Pale™ Partially Dimerized Rosin | Rosin Resin | Poly-Pale™ resin is a pale, partially polymerized (dimerized) gum rosin. Compared with pale grades of regular wood, gum, or tall oil rosins, it has a higher softening point, higher viscosity (molten and in solution), much greater resistance to oxidation, and complete freedom from crystallizing when in solid form or in solution. Its many uses include the preparation of varnishes, driers, synthetic resins, ink vehicles, floor tile, rubber compounds, solder fluxes, and various adhesives and protective coatings.

Regalflex™ E1003 Amorphous Polyolefin | Amorphous Polyolefin | Regalflex™ Amorphous Polyolefins (APOs) are characteristically saturated, low molecular weight, propylene-based olefin polymers. These products are inherently soft, tacky, and flexible, having a broad compatibility with numerous elastomers, polymers, and tackifying resins. Regalflex™ APOs are characterized by consistent quality, low odor, good heat stability, and low color. Regalflex™ E1003 is a copolymer of propylene and ethylene having a melt viscosity of 300 mPa·s at 190°C.
