Forming reliable connections

For wire and cable applications, we offer several products as raw materials. There are generally two types of telecommunications cables—copper wire and fibre optic. For both of these types we supply materials that serve as filling compounds, which space the conductors, and flooding compounds, which flood the armour layers within the cable. remain flexible at low temperatures.

Synthomer hydrophobic hydrocarbon compounds also provide waterproofing for the interior components of the cable, and can be injected hot during cable manufacture. They also ensure the cable remains flexible, even at low temperatures.

Abalyn™ D-E Methyl Ester of RosinRosin Resin

Abalyn™ D-E methyl ester of gum rosin, is an amber-colored, near-neutral, tacky, viscous liquid. It is resinous in nature with clarity and high refractive index, low vapor pressure, high boiling point, and good thermal stability. It has excellent surface-wetting properties. These physical properties, plus its wide compatibility, make it useful in a variety of applications, including lacquers, inks, paper coatings, varnishes, adhesives, sealing compounds, plastics and wood preservatives. To assure minimum odor of products in which it is used, it is given a special steam sparging treatment.

  • Alcohol-soluble
  • Excellent perfume fixative
  • Excellent surface wetting and adhesion properties
  • Excellent wood preservative
  • Insoluble in water
  • Liquid tackifier and plasticizer resin for a wide variety of raw materials and polymers

Abitol™ E Hydroabietyl AlcoholRosin Resin

Abitol™ E resin hydroabietyl alcohol is a colorless, tacky, balsamic resin. Its tackiness and extremely pale color, combined with its solubility in common organic solvents and compatibility with resins, film-formers, and oils, have led to its use as a resinous plasticizer and/or tackifier in plastics, lacquers, inks and adhesives. Chemically, Abitol E resin is a high molecular weight, primary, monohydric alcohol derived from rosin acids that have been hydrogenated to reduce unsaturation. Abitol E resin undergoes the general types of chemical reaction common to most primary alcohols.

  • Alcohol-soluble

  • High viscous tackifier resin with excellent ageing characteristics
  • Light color
  • Low odor
  • Reactive functionality
  • Wide solubility and compatibility range

Dymerex™ Polymerized RosinRosin Resin

Dymerex™ modified gum rosin is a pale, acidic, thermoplastic, high softening point resin. It is composed predominately of dimeric acids derived from rosin with lesser amounts of monomeric resin acids and neutral materials of rosin origin. Dymerex™ modified resin has high resistance to oxidation and does not crystallize from solutions or from solid compositions. It is compatible with many natural and synthetic film formers and rubbers. Being an acidic resin, it reacts readily with polyalcohols or hydrated lime to yield high melting derivatives.

  • Alcohol-soluble
  • Non-crystalline
  • Resistant to oxidation
  • Thermoplastic rosin acid
  • Very high softening point

Foral™ AX-E Fully Hydrogenated RosinRosin ResinForal™ AX-E fully hydrogenated gum rosin is a thermoplastic, acidic resin produced by hydrogenating rosin to an exceptionally high degree. It is the palest, most highly stabilized rosin commercially available from Synthomer. Compared with Staybelite™ resin-E partially hydrogenated rosin, a hydrogenated rosin long established and widely used for its pale color and high oxidation resistance, Foral AX-E has better initial color and color retention, and even greater resistance to oxidation.
It is especially indicated as the tackifier and resin modifier in solvent adhesives and hot-melt applied coatings and adhesives that must excel in these properties. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates.
  • Alcohol-soluble
  • Compatible with UV acrylic adhesives
  • Excellent resistance to oxidation
  • High acid number
  • Improved adhesion to low surface energy substrates
  • Medium softening point
  • Thermoplastic hydrogenated resin
  • Very light color
Foralyn™ 90 Ester of Hydrogenated RosinRosin ResinForalyn™ 90 ester of hydrogenated rosin is the glycerol ester of hydrogenated rosin. This resin combines the feature of light initial color and good color retention with the advantages of excellent long-term retention of adhesive properties and UV light stability offered by Staybelite™ and Foral™ esters of hydrogenated rosin.

Foralyn™ E Partially Hydrogenated RosinRosin ResinForalyn™ E Partially Hydrogenated Gum Rosin is a light colored, thermoplastic, acidic resin made by partially hydrogenating rosin. Because of this treatment, Foralyn E is highly resistant to oxidation and discolouration, and to changes in solubility characteristics when it is exposed to air and sunlight. Thermoplastic properties of Foralyn™ E make it particularly valuable as a plasticizer, tackifier or processing aid for reclaimed, natural, and synthetic rubbers. Foralyn E is also suggested for the preparation of synthetic resins, pigment coatings, soldering fluxes and caulking compounds.

Pentalyn™ H-E Ester of Hydrogenated RosinRosin ResinPentalyn™ H-E ester of hydrogenated gum rosin is a medium hard, pale, thermoplastic resin designed primarily as a tackifying resin for various types of polymer and elastomer-based adhesives. It is a pentaerythritol ester of a rosin that has been stabilized by hydrogenation. In adhesive formulations, it contributes improved resistance to oxidation, greater heat stability, better retention of color, and greater retention of tack-imparting properties than ordinary rosin ester resins.
