We’re building on a culture that respects and includes talented people from any background. Everyone is welcome.
There is strong momentum behind enhancing diversity at Synthomer. Firstly, it’s the right thing to do. Secondly, with the best and most diverse people we can successfully implement our ambitious strategy across the world.
As part of our Vision 2030 goals, we’ve set meaningful targets and milestones around diversity of our organisation, including targets for 40% senior management gender diversity by 2030, and 20% senior leaders from ethnically diverse backgrounds by 2025.
One of our key people priorities is to build a sustainable, diverse, talent pipeline. This demands that we continuously improve our development programmes and ensure we have the right people with the right skills in the right job at the right time.
"Our core values express what we stand for and DE&I is an integral part of them: At Synthomer we value the difference everyone brings to work and we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, where people are supported to make their best contribution in creating a vibrant and successful business."
Alice Heezen Chief HR Officer
Diversity representation
We’ve been building awareness to help our employees and senior leaders understand why a diverse and inclusive workplace matters and the role they have to play. So far, we have invited 600 leaders, and we are building a network of DE&I Champions with which we’re expanding our DE&I awareness sessions to the wider organisation.
ENGENDER is our internal resource group open for everyone to help women develop as professionals through relevant and impactful networking activities, creating a safe environment to learn new skills, share experiences, support and challenge each other. This network has been very active, establishing regional ENGENDER branches, running training activities around career management, confidence, leadership and more, and hosting panel discussion with the CEO and board members. We have also established THRIVE, which is our LGBTQ+ employee resource group and recently we have introduced EMPOWER, which is our employee resource group focused on our multicultural diversity.
Across the world we have celebrated awareness days, including hosting a series of events to mark International Women’s Day, Pride month and International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
To help better embed diversity in our operations and recruitment, we published new guidance to help employees support their disabled colleagues, and shared videos from managers living with disabilities. We have also developed an e-learning module around interview skills, including inclusive recruiting, for hiring managers, and we have created a DE&I Dashboard to measure progress against our externally published ambitions.
