Synthomer was on stage with two technical presentations at the International Latex Conference in Akron, Ohio, US to reveal the newest developments on sustainable, low VOC polymers. On August 6, Dr. Brian Maxwell, Innovation Director Americas, presented in-depth application tests for our next generation, formaldehyde (FA)-free binders and how they form the new series of dispersions for polyester roofing felt – Litex SkyShield™ – and interior glass wall textiles – Revacryl Design™ – which surpass conventional FA-releasing formulas in performance and efficiency.
Following his presentation was Dr. Thian Hong Ng, Head of Technical Service Health & Protection, who introduced the very first set of full cradle-to-grave of life cycle analysis data for our nitrile products from various generations alongside its carbon footprint. Based on the data collected from this study, our latest nitrile technology SyNovus allows the glove manufacturing industry to create significantly more sustainable nitrile medical examination gloves, with a step change lower impact on both people and the environment nature and people, when compared to previous generations of nitrile latex and as well as to neighbouring chemistries such as natural rubber latex and PVC.
As one of the leading conferences in the latex industry, the International Latex Conference serves as a forum to network, present best-in-class ideas and provide a clear outline on the future of the latex business.
