Synthomer, the global differentiated speciality chemical company and a leading supplier of sustainable polymer solutions today announces further changes to its Executive Committee and senior leadership group.
I am pleased to confirm the following changes across the executive and senior management teams. These changes support the future direction and strategic imperatives for Synthomer in its next growth and value creation phase.
Given the importance of our people focus associated with our global growth agenda I am pleased to announce that Alice Heezen will join the Executive Team from June 1st as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) reporting to myself. Alice has extensive experience in HR across several large companies including Rexam, BG Group, Fiberweb, Adama Agricultural Solutions and most recently Trinseo in her role as Senior VP and CHRO. Divisional Structure and Operations
Following last week’s completion of the Eastman Adhesive Resins acquisition, Synthomer consists of 4 Divisions. Toby Heppenstall has joined the Executive Team as President of Adhesive Technologies (AT).
The other Divisions will continue to be run by Rob Tupker, Functional Solutions (FS), Neil Whitley Performance Elastomers (PE) and Ana Perroni, Industrial Specialities and Acrylate Monomers (IS,AM).
I have taken the decision to move the full accountability for Operations into the Divisions. I would like to pass my sincere appreciation and thanks to Phil Wrigley who will no longer have a role on the Executive team. Phil has decided to leave the company in the coming months. I wish him success with his future endeavours. I will continue to directly oversee the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) responsibility through John Hamnett who will coordinate and manage the current central SHE team and initiatives in addition to his current role as Operations VP for Industrial Specialities and Acrylate Monomers.
Strategy and M&A
In order to strengthen our strategic and M&A agenda I am delighted to announce that Jan Chalmovsky has joined the company to lead our strategy and M&A activities. Jan worked for 10 years at Lehman Brothers and McKinsey and Company before joining Conzzeta AG as Head of Strategy, M&A and Digitalisation in 2017. Jan will report to myself.

Richard Atkinson (General Counsel and Company Secretary) and Tim Hughes (President, Corporate Development) have decided to retire within the next twelve months following some 24 years and 13 years of service respectively. Both Richard and Tim will remain as members of the Executive Committee until successors have been appointed with searches currently underway for their replacements. I would like to thank them both for their extensive contribution to the development of Synthomer.
To increase our focus on business development in China I am pleased to announce that we have appointed a new, Chinese native General Manager for China, assuming full p&l responsibility for this critical market. We will be accelerating our plans in China in the coming years and have already initiated corresponding projects that will enhance our position aligned to the vast opportunity.
Global Leadership Team
In order to strengthen the senior management, further develop diversity and succession potential, a Global Leadership Team (GLT) has been formed to ensure wider ownership, accountability and alignment for the company’s development plans. This will comprise of a core group of ~ 70 leaders securing significant value in Synthomer.
