We are excited to announce PLASTVANCETM T is a finalist in the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) awards. The product has been recognised in the Sustainability category, highlighting innovations that have led to significant, measurable improvements in environmental sustainability.
Launched two years ago, PLASTVANCETM T was developed to help food packaging manufacturers transition from polystyrene (PS) to polypropylene (PP)—a more versatile alternative for recycling post-consumer packaging materials. This product enables PP to be thermoformed as easily as PS, solving key manufacturing challenges while expanding the processing window—all without sacrificing strength, stability, or shaping versatility.
PLASTVANCETM T enables:
- Greater cost efficiencies within customer operations, as they move away from PS materials.
- Seamless integration with existing packaging machinery.
- Up to 14% less energy consumption during production.
- Lower carbon emissions compared to PS materials, creating more sustainable food packaging.
- Downgauging of existing packaging without compromising on performance.
Michaela Hofbauer, Vice President of Sustainable Innovation and Marketing for our Adhesive Solutions division, comments: “As the first modifier to make PP thermoforming commercially viable, without having to purchase new packaging machinery, PLASTVANCETM T bridges the gap between ingenuity and efficiency, all at a lower operational cost.
“Aligned with our corporate strategy, the launch of PLASTVANCETM T exemplifies how innovation and sustainability are at the heart of our future growth, and we are proud to see it recognised at SCI.”
