LITEX S 2806

Litex S 2806 is an aqueous NH3 free colloidal dispersion of a copolymer of butadiene and styrene with carboxylic groups. It is stabilised by an anionic emulsifier and does not contain an antioxidant agent. It is a versatile latex grade for footwear applications and can be used as a binder for fabrics, paper and cardboard. Toe puff and counter material becomes thermoformable, stiff and grindable with Latex S 2806.

Application Advice/Typical Applications

Litex S 2806 is used to bind wovens, non-wovens, paper and cardboard for footwear applications. Material made with Litex S 2806 is thermoformable and exhibits a high stiffness. Typical applications are the impregnation of insole, toe puff or counter material. Because of its high mechanical stability Litex S 2806 can be processed using any kind of standard impregnating and coating equipment. It can be blended with most synthetic XSBR-latices provided they contain anionic or non-ionic stabilizers. Litex S 2806 can either be applied liquid as delivered, foamed and/or diluted to the desired concentration with water. Suitable aqueous thickening agents are those which are widely used in the latex-processing industry, such as aqueous preparations of modified cellulose, alginates, polyvinyl alcohols and salts of poly(meth)acrylic acid. Litex S 2806 does not contain any antioxidant. If required a suitable antioxidant agent can be added to the compound in order to achieve the desired protection. Due to its high bound styrene content Litex S 2806 does not form a film at room temperature. In order to optimise the performance of the material finished with Litex S 2806, it is normally necessary to process the compound at temperatures significantly higher than the minimum film formation temperature. Avoid any contact of the product with metals which are not corrosion-resistant.

Shipping and Storage

Store at an even temperature of between +5°C and +35°C avoiding frost and direct sunlight. Stir product before use. If stored according to these conditions and in the original unopened containers, the dispersion will be stable for 12 months following delivery. Product should be used as soon as possible after opening. During processing, storage and transport, avoid any contact with metals (including non-ferrous metals) which are not protected against corrosion. Detailed information is available on request..
