LITEX T 68W20

Litex® T 68W20 is an aqueous dispersion of a carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer. The dispersion was specially designed for the impregnation of needlefelt and also for the finishing of woven carpets. Litex® T 68W20 give the finished article a hard handle. Litex® T 68W20 is totally compatible with Litex® T 64W20. The products can therefore be mixed in any ratio to achieve the desired handle. Litex® T 68W20 contains an antioxidant.

Application Advice/Typical Applications

Litex® T 68W20 is characterised by a high mechanical stability, and as a result does not form deposits, even after long periods of operation on the squeeze rollers. The fine partcle size of the dispersion coupled with its high mechanical stability makes it suitable for spraying (e.g. binding of non woven fabrics). The blockage of the spray nozzle over long periods of production is not a problem. Litex® T 68W20 can also be utilised for full bath impregnation of needlefelt, and for application from a lick roller trough. The viscosity of compounds can be adjusted to the desired level using the normal acrylate thickeners which are well known in the industry (e.g. Plextol® T 70S10). Litex® T 68W20 is capable, without the addition of extra surface active agents, of being foamed up to very light cup weights. As a consequence the application weight, when using a horizontal foulard, can be accurately adjusted. Litex® T 68W20 ensures that woven carpets finished with it, exhibit very good fray resistance. For the application of very low weights the dispersion can be diluted, normally without problems, to low concentrations. If the water in question is very hard, it is best to make a laboratory scale test, before manufacturing a plant batch.

Litex® T 68W20 has good storage characteristics and also good chemical stability.

Shipping and Storage

Litex® T 68W20 is normally delivered in road tankers. Shipment in drums and 1 ton containers is also possible for customers who are just taking small quantities. The storage temperature of the dispersion should not fall below + 5 °C and not exceed + 40 °C. In air-tight, unopened, original drums or containers, and provided the storage conditions are met, the dispersion is stable for 6 months after delivery. However a slight drying of the surface, or some cream formation cannot be ruled out. It is therefore advisable that the dispersion, or compounds made from it, should be stirred, or mixed before use. The contents of drums, or containers, should be used up as soon as possible after opening.
