Reversol P-9766 is a filled beige opaque fire retardant unsaturated Isophthalic polyester resin for use in pultrusion and contact moulding. It has been specially designed to meet the increasing demand for an inexpensive filled resin system with fire retardant property. Fully cured Reversol P-9766 reinforced with glass fibre can obtain a class-2 flame spread @ BS-476 part 7 : 1997. Compared to unfilled resin, it is necessary to use a slightly higher Reversol P-9766 resin to glass ratio during FRP lamination. A resin to glass ratio by weight of 2.5-3.0 : 1.0 is recommended. Reversol P-9766 is non-promoted and addition of catalyst (MEKP) at 1-2% is recommended for tropical condition along with 0.1 – 0.13% of Cobalt (12%) promoter when used for cold cure application. BPO (Lucidol CH-50) is recommended for hot cure at 2 % pbw to resin. The BPO catalysed resin mixture will be stable at workshop temperature (29-33ºC) for approximately 1 day. Curing should take place at 100-140ºC, but for most applications, 120ºC will be satisfactory. To achieve the optimum mechanical, weathering and fire retardant properties, it is recommended to post-cure Reversol P-9766 laminates at 50ºC for 15 hours or allow minimum 7 days of ageing at tropical condition of 28-33ºC, before putting laminates into service. Laminates made with Reversol P-9766, like those made from other filled fire retardant resin system, should be protected by a resin rich surface or a suitable gelcoat if they are to be used outdoors. Always stir resin before use as sedimentation occurs during standing.

Shipping and Storage

To ensure maximum stability and maintain optimum resin properties, Reversol P-9766 should be stored in closed containers below 32ºC and away from heat sources and sunlight. All storage should conform to local fire and building codes. Drums should be stored away from all sources of flame or combustion. Inventory should be maintained at minimum reasonable stock and used on a first-in-first-out basis. When properly stored, Reversol P-9766 will remain stable for 3 months from date of delivery.
