Reversol P-9543 P is a filled, pinkish opaque fire retardant unsaturated polyester resin for use in contact moulding. It has been specially designed to meet the increasing demand for an inexpensive filled resin system with fire retardant properties. Fully cured Reversol P-9543 P reinforced with glass fibre can obtain a class 1 surface spread of flame rating when tested to BS-476 Part 7, 1997. Compared to unfilled resin, it is necessary to use a slightly higher Reversol P-9543 P resin to glass ratio during FRP lamination. A resin to glass ratio by weight of 3 : 1 is recommended. Reversol P-9543 P is pre-promoted and addition of catalyst (MEKP) at 1% pbw is recommended for tropical condition. Due to the effect of filler, Reversol P-9543 P normally experiences marginally higher upward drift in geltime upon storage compared to non-filler added resin. Hence, post addition of promoter to adjust geltime maybe necessary after long (2 months and above) storage. To achieve optimum mechanical, weathering and fire retardant properties, it is recommended to post-cure Reversol P-9543 P laminates at 50°C for 15 hours, or allow minimum 7 days ageing at tropical condition of 28-33°C, before putting laminates into service. Reversol P-9543 P can be pigmented by addition of up to 10% of suitable polyester based pigment pastes. Laminates made with Reversol P-9543 P, like those made from other filled fire retardant resin system, should be protected by a resin rich surface or a suitable gelcoat if they are to be used outdoor.

Shipping and Storage

To ensure maximum stability and maintain optimum resin properties, Reversol P-9543 P should be stored in closed containers below 32oC and away from heat sources and sunlight. All storage should conform to local fire and building codes. Drums should be stored away from all sources of flame or combustion. Inventory should be maintained at minimum reasonable stock and used on a first-in-first-out basis. When properly stored, Reversol P-9543 P will remain stable for 3 months from date of delivery.
