REVACRYL AE 4625 is a finely dispersed, aqueous dispersion of a styrene-acrylic ester copolymer. The dispersion contains an anionic emulsifier system and is free from film forming aids, solvents, plasticizers and ammonia.

Technical Informations

Application Advice/Typical Applications

REVACRYL AE 4625 is preserved against bacterial and fungal attack. In the manufacture of finished products, the material has to be retreated, as usual, with suitable biocides to give enhanced preservation.

Above the minimum film forming temperature, REVACRYL AE 4625 forms a clear, tack-free, and water-resistant film. The film is characterized by good light, ageing and saponification stability. Owing to it´s low odour (ammonia-free) the dispersion is particularly suitable for internal applications and in industrial manufacturing processes. Primary applications are: paint materials for inside / outside use, pasty building and tile adhesives, high-grade plasters, additive for silicate paints, and priming of mineral substrates. Pigmentation / wetting agents: REVACRYL AE 4625 shows good compatibility with the generally used pigments and fillers. In the case of a very high PVC and the use of fillers with a large specific surface, the requirement for wetting agent should be determined. Dispersing agents such as SER-AD® FX 605, Pigmentverteiler N and DISPEX® N 40 in combination with polyphosphates are effective. Thickening: For adjustment of end product viscosity and rheology addition of cellulose ethers, copolymers containing acid groups (ROHAGIT® SD 15), polyurethane thickening agents (BORCHIGEL® DP 40, SER-AD® FX 1010), COLLACRAL® VL and inorganic thickening agents (BENTONE® EW) is recommended. Film formation: The film forming temperature can be lowered by the addition of effective solvents. High boiling solvents such as SER-AD® FX 511, LUSOLVAN® FBH or diverse DOWANOL® grades are highly active, white spirits containing aromatics (boiling point 180 - 220 °C) and butyl glycol have a lesser activity and must be used in higher dosage. Defoaming: For the production of dispersion paints and plasters defoaming agents like SERDAS® GBR, AGITAN® 218/281, BYK®-034, DEHYDRAN® 1620 are suitable.

Shipping and Storage

REVACRYL AE 4625 is supplied in road tankers or in non-returnable plastics drums secured by a lid with clamping ring or in non-returnable palletized bulk containers (net weight 1,000 kg). REVACRYL AE 4625 has to be stored protected from frost and, as far as possible, below 40 °C. Storage at temperatures between + 5 and + 30 °C is recommendable. REVACRYL AE 4625 contains a preservative to counter microbial attack during transportation. To protect it against germination during storage, absolutely stringent plant hygiene and, under certain curcumstances, the addition of suitable preservatives will be necessary. Care must be taken to ensure that drums and storage containers are tightly closed. During processing, storage and transport of the product contact with metals unprotected against corrosion (likewise non ferrous-metals) has to be avoided. When stored correctly the product has a storage life of 12 months from date of delivery.
