REVACRYL AE 3723 is a finely dispersed, aqueous dispersion of a acrylic ester-styrene copolymer. The dispersion contains an anionic emulsifier system, is free from film forming aids, solvents, plasticizers and ammonia, and causes low emission owing to a special aftertreatment.

Technical Informations

Application Advice/Typical Applications

REVACRYL AE 3723 is preserved against bacterial and fungal attack. In the manufacture of finished products, the material has to be retreated, as usual, with suitable biocides to give enhanced preservation.

Above minimum film forming temperature REVACRYL AE 3723 forms a clear, slightly tacky film. REVACRYL AE 3723 has been purified by special aftertreatment (steam distillation) so that residual monomers are no longer detectable and non-polymerizable, volatile constituents are only present in traces. The low minimum film forming temperature of the dispersion is achieved exclusively by appropriate adjustment of the styrene/acrylate ratio in the polymer (internal plastification). This enables paints to form films without addition of film forming aids or plasticizers. Owing to that REVACRYL AE 3723 is highly suitable as binder in "solvent- and plasticizer-free" paints according to VdL guide line 01 and "low emission wall paints" according to RAL-UZ 102 ("Blauer Engel"). REVACRYL AE 3723 also forms a water-resistant film and has an extremely good pigment binding capability for this product group. REVACRYL AE 3723 is highly compatible with conventional pigments and fillers. At very high pigment volume concentrations and when fillers having a large specific surface are used, the requirement for wetting agent to produce a paint with a good storage stability should be carefully determined. DEHYDRAN 1620 is recommended as effective defoamer. In general, it should be ensured when formulating low-emission products that additives do not contain any volatile constituents such as ammonia or solvent.

Shipping and Storage

REVACRYL AE 3723 is supplied in road tankers or in non-returnable plastics drums secured by a lid with clamping ring or in non-returnable palletized bulk containers (net weight 1,000 kg). REVACRYL AE 3723 has to be stored protected from frost and, as far as possible, below 40 °C. Storage at temperatures between + 5 and + 30 °C is recommendable. REVACRYL AE 3723 contains a preservative to counter microbial attack during transportation. To protect it against germination during subsequent storage, absolutely stringent plant hygiene and, under certain circumstances, the addition of suitable preservatives will be necessary. Care must be taken to ensure that drums and storage containers are tightly closed. During processing, storage and transport of the product contact with metals unprotected against corrosion (likewise non ferrous metals) has to be avoided. When stored correctly REVACRYL AE 3723 has a storage life of 12 months from date of delivery.
