LIPATON SB 2540 is an aqueous high solids dispersion of a styrene-butadiene copolymer. The dispersion is free from solvents and plasticizers and does not contain antioxidant.

Owing to its pH value Lipaton SB 2540 is protected against bacterial and fungal attack during storage. In the manufacture of finished products, the material has to be retreated, as usual, with suitable biocides to give enhanced preservation.

Lipaton SB 2540 is a synthetic latex, which is owing to its exceptional high solids content and very low glass transition temperature especially suitable for the modification of anionic bitumen emulsions. This addition broadens the plasticity range of appropriately modified bituminous sealing systems, more especially their low-temperature flexibility and heat resistance.

Shipping and Storage

LIPATON SB 2540 is normally delivered in road tankers. Shipment in drums and 1,000 kg containers is also available. The storage temperature of the dispersion should not fall below + 5 °C and not exceed + 40 °C. In airtight, unopened, original drums or containers, and provided the storage conditions are met, the dispersion is stable for 6 months after delivery. However a slight drying of the surface, or some cream formation cannot be ruled out. It is therefore advisable that the dispersion, or compounds made from it, should be stirred, or mixed before use. The contents of drums or containers should be used up as soon as possible after opening. The pH value of the dispersion may decrease due to absorption of carbon dioxide from air. If the pH drops below 10 it must be readjusted to the initial value with an aqueous 5 % potassium hydroxide solution.
