PLEXTOL D 487 is a finely dispersed aqueous dispersion of a methacrylic ester-acrylic ester copolymer. The dispersion contains an anionic emulsifier system and is free from film forming aids, solvents, and plasticizers.

PLEXTOL D 487 is preserved against bacterial and fungal attack. In the manufacture of finished products, the material has to be retreated, as usual, with suitable biocides to give enhanced preservation.

PLEXTOL D 487 is a non-yellowing, light-resistant pure acrylic dispersion, which is characterized by excellent weatherability. PLEXTOL D 487 is modified with adhesion promotors and owing to that especially qualified as binder in house paints exhibiting good adhesion to diverse substrates. Due to the soft polymer the amount of added coalescent agent and the VOC content of the paint can be limited.

Shipping and Storage

PLEXTOL D 487 is supplied in road tankers or in non-returnable plastics drums secured by a lid with clamping ring or in non-returnable palletized bulk containers (net weight 1,000 kg). PLEXTOL D 487 has to be stored protected from frost and, as far as possible, below 40 °C. Storage at temperatures between + 5 and + 30 °C is recommendable. PLEXTOL D 487 contains a preservative to counter microbial attack during transportation. To protect it against germination during subsequent storage, absolutely stringent plant hygiene and, under certain circumstances, the addition of suitable preservatives will be necessary. Care must be taken to ensure that drums and storage containers are tightly closed. During processing, storage and transport of the product contact with metals unprotected against corrosion (likewise non-ferrous metals) has to be avoided. When stored correctly PLEXTOL D 487 has a storage life of 12 months from date of delivery.
