Application Advice/Typical Applications

LIPREN MKB is mainly used as a binder for animal, vegetable and synthetic fibres. Products made of LIPREN MKB are characterized by a very good resistance to ageing, weathering, ozone and heat. They show a good resistance to a number of organic chemicals, including various acids. Goods produced with LIPREN MKB have a better flame-retardant behaviour than similar goods produced from natural rubber or synthetic rubbers. Their flame-retardant behaviour can be further improved by adding suitable inorganic flame-retardant, e.g. zinc borate or aluminium hydroxide. LIPREN MKB requires zinc oxide not only as a crosslinking agent but also to improve the resistance of the products to weathering, ageing and heat. Zinc oxide also serves as an acid acceptor for the small amounts of hydrogen chloride that are released as a consequence of ageing. For a further improvement of the ageing properties of LIPREN MKB we recommend to add a non-staining antioxidant (e.g. Vulkanox SKF1). On request we will be pleased to provide you with typical formulations for your guidance.

Shipping and Storage

Store at an even temperature of between +5°C and +35°C avoiding frost and direct sunlight. Stir product before use. If stored according to these conditions and in the original unopened containers, the dispersion will be stable for 6 months following delivery. Product should be used as soon as possible after opening. During processing, storage and transport, avoid any contact with metals (including non-ferrous metals) which are not protected against corrosion. Detailed information is available on request.
