Application Advice/Typical Applications

PYRATEX 240 is used together with precon-densed resorcinol formaldehyde resins for impreg-nating textile reinforcing materials for the rubber industry such as tyre cords or fabrics for conveyor belts, hoses and the like. Pyratex 240 is stable to freezing and thawing. Tyre cord and other fabrics that have been dipped in a mixture of PYRATEX 240 and precondensed resorcinol formaldehyde resin show very good adhesion to rubber after the dipping composition has been dried and crosslinked. As light and moisture impair the adhesion the treated fabric should be packed in airtight black film as soon as the treatment has been completed. Dip formulations used in the RFL (Resorcinol For-maldehyde Latex) process depend on the fabric to be impregnated as well as the resorcinol formalde-hyde resin in use. The resin may either be pre-pared by the user himself or can be obtained as a precondensate.Rayon is commonly impregnated using a latex mixture of PYRATEX 240 and a suitable styrene butadiene copolymer latex like LITEX S 83. For finishing polyamide, polyester and aramide straight PYRATEX 240 is used as the latex compound. With polyester and aramide good adhesion is only achieved when a suitable predip (e.g. with epoxy) is applied.

Shipping and Storage

Store at an even temperature of between +5°C and +35°C avoiding frost and direct sunlight. Stir product before use. If stored according to these conditions and in the original unopened containers, the dispersion will be stable for 6 months following delivery. Product should be used as soon as possible after opening. During processing, storage and transport, avoid any contact with metals (including non-ferrous metals) which are not protected against corrosion. Detailed information is available on request..
