REVERSOL P-9583

Reversol P-9583 is a filled, beige opaque fire retardant unsaturated polyester resin for use in contact moulding. It is the non-promoted. It has been specially designed to meet the increasing demand for an inexpensive filled resin system with fire retardant properties. Fully cured Reversol P-9583 reinforced with glass fibre can obtain a class 1 surface spread of flame rating when tested to BS-476 Part 7 :1997, and class-0 when tested to BS-476 Part 6. Reversol P-9583 is recommended to be added with 0.15-0.2 part-by-weight (pbw) Cobalt Octoate (10%) promoter and addition of 1 pbw catalyst (MEKP) to 100 pbwresin during application. Compared to unfilled resin, it is necessary to use a slightly higher Reversol P-9583 resin to glass ratio during FRP lamination. A resin to glass ratio by weight of 11 : 3 is recommended. Reversol P-9583 resin should be use at above 23°C ambient working condition. To achieve optimum mechanical, weathering and fire retardant properties, it is recommended to post-cure Reversol P-9583 laminates at 50°C for 15 hours, or allow minimum 7 days ageing at tropical condition of 28-33°C, before putting laminates into service. Preferably laminates made with Reversol P-9583, like those made from other filled fire retardant resin system, should be protected by a resin rich surface or a suitable gelcoat if they are to be used outdoor. (Note : Always stir resin thoroughly before use. Sedimentation upon storage is expected).

Application Advice/Typical Applications

(# Curing schedule was 12 hrs at 25°C followed by 12 hrs at 50°C and 3 hrs at 80°C, , except in determining deflection temperature, where the schedule was 24 hrs at 20°C, 5 hrs at 80°C, 3 hrs at 120°C).

Shipping and Storage

To ensure maximum stability and maintain optimum resin properties, Reversol P-9583 should be stored in close containers maintained below 32ºC and away from heat sources and sunlight. All storage should conform to local fire and building codes. Drums should be stored away from all sources of flame or combustion. Inventory should be maintained at minimum reasonable stock and used on a first-in-first-out basis. When properly stored, Reversol P-9583 will remain stable for 2 months after delivery.
